My Story: From Pain to Purpose

Sometimes the path to finding your purpose isn’t easy—in fact, mine was extremely hard. At times, it felt downright debilitating and excruciating. As a child, I remember being sick a lot. I even recall spending time in first aid centers at theme parks and Disney World while my family was out enjoying the rides and attractions. I was the kid in the care room, missing the fun.

The Accident That Changed Everything

At just 12 years old, I was in a car accident that changed everything. I went head-first into the windshield of a truck, which left me with chronic headaches, back pain, and a diagnosis of neurological scoliosis—a combination of the trauma and an underlying birth defect I didn’t even know I had.

By high school, the headaches had turned into full-blown migraines. Between the migraines and the back pain, I spent several days a week bedridden. I’d come home from school, collapse into bed until the pain eased (usually around 3 a.m.), then do my homework before starting the next day all over again. I missed out on typical teenage experiences like movies, amusement parks, and school events. I remember lying in dark rooms with an ice pack on my head, crying, and begging God for relief.

Endless Doctors, No Answers

Desperate for answers, my family took me to countless doctors, neurologists, and specialists. But all they offered were pain relievers—or surgery. One option involved cutting open my skull to chip away bone around the brain stem. Thankfully, we chose to wait and pray for a better solution. Despite it all, I pushed through and graduated with honors from McAlester High School in 2004.

Symptoms, Fears, and Limited Options

In college, things worsened. I was having migraines six days a week and daily back pain. I started thinking about careers I could manage while being in pain because every doctor I saw had the same answers: medication or surgery, with no promise of relief. I hated living like that. I felt hopeless and scared that this was how my life would always be.

Then, at 22, I decided to try chiropractic care—as a last resort.

That decision changed my life.

Within months, my migraines dropped from six days a week to fewer than 10 a month. I was stunned. Inspired by my own healing, I enrolled at Parker University in Dallas, TX, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Anatomy, a Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness, and a Doctorate of Chiropractic.

Partial Relief and Lingering Challenges

Chiropractic care gave me my life back—but only part of it.

Even with regular adjustments and massage therapy, I still had daily back pain and lingering migraines. I was told it was just part of having scoliosis and that there was nothing more that could be done. I reluctantly accepted that "this is just how it will be." But deep down, I was terrified. The pain was already awful—what would it be like in 10 or 20 years?

It began affecting my ability to work. I had to cut back on seeing patients because I was hurting so much. I remember thinking, How can I help others heal when I’m suffering like this every day?

Then, in my fourth year of practice, my world came crashing down. I watched my mom pass away from complications related to diabetes—her heart, kidneys, and other organs failing—surrounded by 13 IV lines going into her arms. It was devastating. As someone who was also overweight, I knew deep down I was headed down the same path.

Tragedy, A Wake-Up Call, and a New Path

  • I prayed for a way out. How can I avoid this fate? Watching my precious father become a widower far too early broke my heart. I didn’t want that for my husband—or for the family we hoped to have one day.

  • Two weeks later, a postcard arrived in the mail for a seminar on something called Nutrition Response Testing. I signed up on a whim. I needed to get away, to clear my head, and focus on something, anything else.

  • At the seminar, one of the practitioners performed a nutritional exam on me. They found significant stress in my pancreas, along with imbalances related to parasites, Lyme, food sensitivities, toxins, and more. They recommended a few simple dietary changes and a targeted protocol using whole-food supplements to help support and heal my body.

Transformation, New Credentials, and My Mission Today

What happened next blew me away.

As I followed the protocol, my energy improved. I began feeling better than I ever had. One day, it hit me—I didn’t have back pain. Not even a little. I was stunned. After hundreds of chiropractic adjustments and countless massages couldn’t fix it… this did? I knew right then: I have to learn this.

That Day, I Began My Journey Into Clinical Nutrition. Since Then, I’ve Earned:

It began affecting my ability to work. I had to cut back on seeing patients because I was hurting so much. I remember thinking, How can I help others heal when I’m suffering like this every day?

  • An Advanced Nutrition Response Testing Certification.

  • A Level III Quantum Nutrition Testing Certification.

  • And became Board-Certified in Nutrition by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners.

I also just became a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner (CFMP).

My Mission

Today, my mission is clear: I want to be the doctor I needed all those years ago. The one who digs deep to find the root cause—not just hands out medication or recommends surgery. I’m passionate about helping people heal, feel seen and heard, and never feel as hopeless as I once did. I believe healing is possible. I’ve lived it. And now, I help others live it too—so they can transform their health, their family’s health, and their future.
